# SAIL

SAIL is the Sailing DAO token and reduces protocol fees. The Sailing DAO accrues protocol revenue.

Founded by [Nico Szerman](https://www.linkedin.com/in/nicoszerman/) - nationally recognized, Argentine, ex-Facebook AI engineer and economist.

We believe that the Sailing Protocol will be foundational to the future economy. SAIL is gas for the Sailing Protocol.

Similar to gas fees in Ethereum, SAIL is gas for the Sailing Protocol. Users can deposit SAIL to have lower protocol fees. Certain operations require paying or locking SAIL as gas, promoting collaboration while reducing protocol congestion and abuse.

If you would like to use these advanced protocol features, you can obtain SAIL across various networks.
